The Learning Festival

The brief was to design a space that created a buzz, like a 'circus tent', popping up in the car park at the head office, ready and waiting to draw staff into the tent for a full agenda of exciting bite-sized learning. And there needed to be a space where people could wait for the next session. What all this looked like was open to suggestion.

Once my design had been signed off by the client it was 'all systems go', bringing in the graphic designers, production, installation and marquee construction teams. The results were...

  • a visually enticing welcome zone, complete with a 'roundabout' of ipad stands for e-learning, an LCD screen hosting a Yammer feed, a nutrition station providing snack/drinks for optimum learning, and a voting point to collect delegate feedback.

  • a learning room, turned on an angle to dispel preconceived expectations. Messaging adorned the walls and circular tables were branded to offer a fun but subtle reminder of the core topics. One corner hosted the LCD screen and dotted around the rooms delegates had ready access to flip chart stands, paper and pens.

And because the client wanted staff at the two head offices to have the same learning experience at the same time, this format was designed, created, installed and managed simultaneously, across both sites, for two weeks. Some achievement!

"Colette created an innovative and creative space where both trainers and delegates could learn, interact and collaborate.  She has the ability to take a high level brief and turn it into reality, whilst considering both the learner and the trainers needs."
